Facilities Planning and Management wants to provide a brief update on the University’s geothermal heating and cooling system after last week’s series of ruptures and corresponding air conditioning complications.
Currently, the system is fully operational. All ruptures were quickly contained, and repair work has continued since Thursday, when the ruptures occurred.
Crews continue excavation work behind North Dining. A small service road behind North Dining remains temporarily closed while this work continues. Dining and shuttle services have established alternate routes and are operating normally.
Repair work near DeHority and Park Hall is expected to be complete by the end of the week. Repair work just south of Teachers College has been completed. Backfill and landscape restoration are in progress at that location.
As these teams continue their work, please allow them to work safely and efficiently by avoiding the worksites.
Campus wide, air-conditioning functionality is normal.
Our Facilities team continues to monitor the system for any abnormalities. As always, if you notice water surfacing, soft or sunken ground, or wet pavement with no obvious source, please report it to Facilities Planning and Management or University Police (765-285-1111) immediately.
We appreciate the patience and cooperation of our entire campus community.
