The Brown Planetarium is open on select weekends in July for exciting, family-friendly programs. This weekend, learn about the science done by astronomers, our dynamic Earth and the possibility of life on other worlds, or embark on a journey to explore the Solar System with your little wanderer.

Little Wanderers Part 1: The Inner Planets
Friday, July 18 at 5:00 p.m.
Saturday, July 19 at 3:30 p.m.
Bring your little wanderer to explore the solar system live in the Brown Planetarium. What appear to be “little” wandering stars in the sky are actually big worlds. Learn about the four rocky planets in our solar system and how spacecraft can explore them up close! Best suited for families and groups with kids ages 6+, all ages are welcome.

Big Astronomy
Friday, July 18 at 6:30 p.m.
Saturday, July 19 at 6:30 p.m.
Journey to three world-class observatories in Chile’s rugged Andes Mountains and arid Atacama Desert—along the way, meet astronomers, engineers, technicians, and support staff who keep these mega-machines running and learn about their research.  Suitable for adults and ages 10+, all ages are welcome.

Dynamic Earth
Friday, July 19 at 5:00 p.m.
Saturday, July 26 at 5:00 p.m.
With visualizations based on satellite monitoring data and advanced supercomputer simulations, this cutting-edge production follows a trail of energy that flows from the Sun into the interlocking systems that shape our climate: the atmosphere, oceans, and the biosphere. Suitable for adults and ages 12+, all ages are welcome.

Living Worlds
Friday, July 25 at 6:30 p.m.
Saturday, July 26 at 6:30 p.m.
Join narrator Daveed Diggs on a journey through space and time to discover how life makes Earth livable, where it could be found elsewhere in the cosmos, and what new technologies we might use to find it. Suitable for adults and ages 10+, all ages are welcome.

Little Wanderers Part 2: The Outer Planets
Friday, July 25 at 5:00 p.m.
