The Office of Information Security Services has become aware that email phishing attempts purporting to be a “critical security advisory” are being sent to Cisco’s WebEx customers with the subject line “Critical Updates!” The email links to a login page that looks very similar to the real WebEx login page—but is actually designed to collect your Ball State login information.The safest way for Ball State students, faculty, and staff to access the WebEx application is through the link available on
myBSU.
As always, we encourage all Ball State faculty, staff, and students to be especially cautious when opening any email attachment or clicking on any link in an email message. Any email you receive with a link to a web site requesting your username and password should be considered fraudulent.No Ball State personnel will ever send you an email with a link to a form which requests your username and password.
