Explore Updated Resources for Your Spring Course Prep

December 16, 2021

Preparing to teach in Spring? You can streamline course development, save valuable time, and explore new approaches to your teaching with resources provided by the Division of Online and Strategic Learning.

  • Import the Ball State Canvas template to quickly and easily create a Canvas course that promotes student success. New to the template this semester is a template guide for instructors that can help you learn how to start with the template and what to edit to make it your own.
  • Download the Syllabus template and adapt it for your course syllabus. This template includes the required (diversity, disability, and attendance) and recommended (COVID-19, the Learning Center, and the Writing Center) syllabus statements. For more information on what to include in a syllabus, visit the Faculty Syllabus Resources webpage for the Office of the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs.
  • Use our new Pre-Flight Checklist to verify your Canvas course is ready for launch. This one-page interactive checklist will help you prepare your course for students on day one.
  • Looking for new instructional technologies for your course? Explore university-supported course building tools like Explain Everything for digital whiteboards and Mediasite for video lectures.
  • Want to innovate your teaching? Our Canvas Community, Continuity of Instruction, includes resources on pedagogical strategies, from Transparent Assignment Design to inclusive teaching to trauma-informed pedagogy.
  • Questions about your course design or setting up your course in Canvas? Our team of Instructional Consultants is available for 1:1 consultations via Zoom, phone, or in person. Email strategiclrn@bsu.edu or call 765-285-1763 to request a consultation.

Here’s to a strong start to your Spring semester!
