The Annual Meeting of the Midwest Chapter of the Society for Ethnomusicology is coming to Ball State’s Alumni Center on Friday, April 3, and Saturday, April 4! This two-day event brings together scholars, performers, and music enthusiasts to explore the many ways music shapes and reflects culture around the world.

Sessions will cover a wide range of fascinating topics, including wartime music, urban soundscapes, dance and embodiment, intercultural artistic connections, and innovative approaches to teaching world music. The conference also features a keynote address on the globalization of heavy metal music, offering a unique perspective on how local and global sounds intersect.
