At today’s Fall Opening Convocation, President Mearns announced that our refreshed Strategic Plan website is now live. The 2025–2030 plan builds on the strong foundation of Destination 2040: Our Flight Path, extending our long-term goals through the end of the decade while introducing new strategic imperatives that reflect our evolving priorities.
This updated plan reaffirms our mission, our enduring values, and our commitment to five overarching goals:
- Undergraduate Excellence and Innovation: providing a premier on-campus experience for every student
- Graduate Education and Lifetime Learning: expanding our reach to serve learners throughout their educational journeys
- Community Engagement and Impact: mobilizing partnerships that revitalize and sustain our region
- Scholarship and Societal Impact: fostering faculty and staff work that enhances lives locally and globally
- Inclusiveness and Institutional Effectiveness: cultivating a vibrant, supportive, and high-performing campus culture
The plan also includes new initiatives in areas such as purpose exploration, relationship-rich education, and integrating artificial intelligence into teaching, research, and operations—all while reaffirming our commitments to academic freedom, freedom of expression, and understanding intellectual and cultural diversity.
