In this course, students will:
? Examine the theoretical foundations and scholarly traditions of arts-based research
? Explore multiple arts-based methodologies, including poetic inquiry, visual arts,
performance, and sound-based methods
? Practice generating, analyzing, and interpreting multimodal forms of data
? Design research that ethically and thoughtfully incorporates participant-created art (or
researcher-created art)
? Strengthen their methodological sophistication for theses, dissertations, and
community-engaged projects
? Critically reflect on research praxis, positionality, and the role of creativity in knowledge
production
