As announced in June 2023, most, if not all, remaining Ricoh printers on-campus have reached their end-of-life support dates. While these Ricoh devices may still be functioning, it’s getting more difficult to find parts for them, possibly leading to long downtimes while we wait on parts or order a replacement device. Just this semester our printer repair vendor notified us that they can no longer get parts for the MP C2503 printers.
If your department still utilizes a Ricoh printer, we suggest you start planning for replacement(s) as soon as possible. To help you, we have put together a list of the affected printer models—along with suitable replacement models and approximate replacement costs—in this Technology Knowledge Base article. You can use these budgetary numbers to plan your expenses.
Information Technology offers a payment plan over multiple years to assist in acquiring new printers if your department has multiple Ricohs that need replaced. Details are in the above Knowledge Base article.
Please note that if you order a new replacement printer and decide to continue using the older Ricoh until it fails, it is necessary to purchase an additional device license costing $250 per retained old Ricoh printer. There is no additional licensing charge if you send the old Ricoh printer to salvage, as the license from the old Ricoh will simply be transferred over and reused during installation of the new printer.
