Empathy and Reading: Does Gender Matter?

Hello! We invite you to be a participant in our survey titled “Empathy and Reading: Does Gender Matter?” This survey will take about 20-30 minutes to complete. All responses to the survey will be kept anonymous. You must be 18 years of age or older to participate. 

 

The purpose of this study is to identify the relationships between reading, empathy, and gender. You will be asked questions about demographics, empathy, reading enjoyment and behaviors, and gender. You will be asked to read different prompts and evaluate your empathy and the emotional valence of the prompt. 

 

This study has been reviewed and approved by the Ball State University Institutional Review Board (IRB-FY2026-215).
