The Emerging Media Design and Development graduate program uses an interdisciplinary approach to collaborative problem-solving. From creative writers to software developers, EMDD pairs our curriculum with real-world experience so that you are equipped to succeed as a working professional.

During your first year of the EMDD program, you can expect to learn

human-centered design with emphasis on human-computer interaction (HCI), design thinking methodologies, and usability testing

transmedia storytelling to expand upon stories through media platforms, audience engagement, and research development

technology and media implementation to create rich, immersive experiences that may include augmented reality, artificial intelligence, video games, or virtual reality

Once you've completed our 2-year program, you'll have mastered transmedia storytelling, human-centered design, and design thinking methodologies. Additionally, you will have portfolio pieces that showcase hands-on experience with community projects. Past project partners include the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra,  Circle of Blue Organization, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Garfield creator Jim Davis.

To help with scheduling conflicts and work-life balance, we offer flexible course schedules in a classroom or online setting. We do not require a GRE.

Please attend our virtual information session June 7 from 6PM to 7PM EST. For your attendance, you will receive an application fee waiver. Register here.
