Docent Program: Informational Meeting at DOMA

August 26, 2021

Do you love art? Love people? Love learning? Then consider being a docent at the David Owsley Museum of Art!

Qualifications required include an interest in art and a willingness to lead great tours. Once accepted, docents are expected to commit to two semesters and lead at least 10 tours per year. Docents/tour guides are volunteers and may be community members or college students. (Student eligibility is reserved for freshmen, sophomore, and junior level university students ages 18 and older. Students must also have a G.P.A. of 3.0 or more.)

The docent training program follows the Ball State semester calendar and meets on most Thursdays during the academic year from 3:30 – 5:00 pm. Additional training and mentoring with experienced docents and staff continue throughout the year.

To learn more, attend an informational meeting at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 2 in the Contemporary Craft Gallery on the third floor of the Fine Arts Building. Please email Cathy Bretz if you plan to attend or if you would like more information in advance. Visit DOMA's Docent web page to learn more, view a video about the docent experience, and to fill out an application for the program.
