Do you have an idea for a Faculty Learning Community and/or Community of Practice topic? Tell us about it!

March 25, 2025

A Faculty Learning Community (FLC) is a peer-led group of 10-12 faculty and staff whose purpose is to investigate and explore solutions to an issue encountered in higher education. FLC participation is funded with the expectation that participants will attend meetings, implement something in their course/s pertaining to the topic, submit a portfolio with a reflection and artifacts from their time in the FLC, and share their knowledge with the Ball State community and beyond.

A Community of Practice (CoP) is a peer-led group of unlimited faculty and staff who gather throughout the academic year to discuss a topic of interest, share information, and curate resources. Participation is not funded.

Recent FLC and CoP topics include

  • Integrating Sustainability into Your Course FLC
  • Facilitating Religious Literacy Across the Curriculum FLC
  • Policies & Practices of AI in Higher Education FLC
  • Sustainability Circles CoP
  • Active Learning CoP
