** Do not install the Mac OS Big Sur Upgrade on university-owned computers **

November 10, 2020

On November 12, 2020, Apple will release the latest MacOS upgrade – Big Sur. If you use a university-owned computer, it is imperative you do not upgrade to MacOS Big Sur at this time. Our current IT security encryption software, Dell Data Protection Encryption (DDPE), is not yet compatible with this latest MacOS upgrade and attempting to install Big Sur on computers with DDPE installed will cause serious issues.

Once a newer version of DDPE is available, Information Technology will follow up with you with more information on how to install the Big Sur upgrade. Again, please do not attempt this upgrade on your university-owned computer until then.
