Discover Muncie's History Through Music on October 30

October 14, 2026
What does the history of a community sound like?

Middletown Chronicles: The Making of Middletown, America explores that question through a cantata inspired by the lives and experiences of Muncie residents. Drawing on historical materials connected to the landmark Middletown studies, the work explores themes of work, faith, recreation, education, and natural beauty.

Originally premiered in 2016, the cantata returns with new music by Ball State composer Eleanor Trawick reflecting on the past ten years in Muncie.

Hear these stories brought to life by Masterworks Chorale and the Ball State University Choral Union, conducted by Dr. Andrew Crow, on Friday, October 30, at 7:30 p.m. at Muncie Central High School Auditorium.

Join the composers and conductor for a pre-concert conversation at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.

This concert is free and open to the public. No tickets are required.
