Utilizing AI as a Thought Partner in Regards to Software Development Project Automation
Gregg Reed, Software Quality Practice Lead and Security Officer
Description: "The goal is not to be busy. The goal is to be productive. And the goal is not to work hard. The goal is to work smart. The goal is to be the intelligent lazy person.” - Naval Ravikant
I was at first resistant to using AI in my work. I was afraid it would make me dependent upon another tool and stunt my actual thought process. Then it dawned on me how silly it would have been for the second person who saw the wheel to turn away thinking, “I do not need that, I am strong enough.” AI is not going to replace our jobs, and it is not going to do our work for us. I have seen firsthand these falsehoods being attributed to other technologies in the past.
AI is a thought partner, a pair programmer, and an editorial partner. In this talk, we are going to see how AI can fill each of these roles in our software projects. We will also look at the pitfalls of AI and how to avoid them. Spoiler: AI is like a friend that sometimes lies to you.
