Title: The Human Educator: Intelligent, Not Artificial
Presented By: Paul Gestwicki – Professor of Computer Science
Abstract: A few weeks before starting my Fall 2025 sabbatical, I was invited to contribute to a collection of essays addressing the question, “What is the role of the human educator in the age of AI?” It was not something that I had expected to explore, but it seemed worthwhile, so I committed myself to it. What I thought would take a few days instead took several weeks, and my journey included readings in history, ethics, rhetoric, metaphysics—and even some computer science. In this Tech Talk, I will share what I discovered. I hope that the discussion will provide new perspectives on this timely issue.
