Title: Stepping into Research: My Journey to RE@Next!
Presented By: Angeles Marin Batana – Computer Science Alumni
Abstract: This presentation shares the unexpected research journey beginning with early experiences in high school, evolving into multidisciplinary research through UX, machine learning, and cybersecurity. This presentation outlines the experiences and opportunities that guided my path into undergraduate research, highlighting key challenges and defining moments that ultimately led to co-authoring a published paper at RE@Next! for the 2025 Requirements Engineering IEEE conference, presenting an AI-driven framework for security requirements engineering. The goal of this talk is to share my experience and demystify the undergraduate research experience, and encourage students to pursue opportunities that can lead to transformative academic experiences.
