Thanks for the thoughtful feedback during trainings. We understand this is a new process, and we’re providing some additional information and reminders to help you navigate this year’s performance evaluation process in Workday.
What’s New?
Self-Evaluation Option
With the implementation of Workday, People and Culture Services has automated the evaluation process to:
- Increase efficiency
- Provide ongoing, easy access to completed evaluations
- Ensure consistent documentation
- Empower employees to be active contributors in the evaluation process through self-evaluation
Key details:
- While optional at the University level, individual supervisors may require completion.
- Submitting the self-evaluation, even if left blank, routes the evaluation directly to the employee's supervisor.
- If self-evaluations are not submitted by March 9, 2026, People and Culture will move the evaluations forward to supervisors.
Key Dates and Expanded Timeline
In previous years, staff and professional evaluations were launched and due at different times. With Workday’s increased efficiency, both processes have launched and share the same due dates, while maintaining distinct performance periods.
- Staff performance evaluation period: March 1, 2025 – February 28, 2026
- Professional performance evaluation period: April 1, 2025 – March 31, 2026
To allow for thoughtful reflection and support completion, we have built in additional time:
- Self-evaluations are due by March 9, 2026.
- Supervisors must complete the full evaluation process by May 8, 2026.
Supervisor Next Steps
- We recommend that supervisors begin scheduling evaluation conversations.
If you have questions about completing evaluations in Workday, please contact your HR Partner within People and Culture or send an email to Peopleandculture@bsu.edu.
