The Center for Economic and Civic Learning, in collaboration with the CREATE project and Muncie Community Schools, is thrilled to announce our 2nd Annual Civics Day 2024, set to take place at Muncie Central High School on April 19, 2024.
This annual event underscores our shared commitment to nurturing civic engagement and understanding among the youth of our community.
A Day of Immersive Learning and Community Engagement: Civics Day 2024 will kick off with a series of morning activities, providing students the opportunity to step into the local community, volunteering with local organizations and businesses. This hands-on experience is designed to offer valuable insights into our local economy and the vital role of civic-minded entities.
Morning Session Highlights:
- 8:05 AM - 9:35 AM: Students will engage with speakers, civic activities, neighborhood beautification projects, and more.
- 9:45 AM - 11:30 AM: The morning's spirit of active participation will continue with more opportunities for meaningful community engagement.
Afternoon Session Highlights:
- 12:30 to 1:45 PM: Range from creative art projects, writing letters to elected officials, and engaging with our local representatives.
- 1:45 to 3:05 PM: Students may find themselves planting trees or participating in a River Walk, designed to deepen understanding of our community.
Help Promote Empowered Citizenship: Civics Day is more than just a day-long event; it represents a movement towards empowering our students to become informed, engaged, and responsible citizens.
