This presentation will discuss the role of a chemist in the pharmaceutical industry. The pharmaceutical industry is comprised of professionals with a variety of jobs to ensure effective and safe drugs for the consumer market. Continuously providing quality to lifesaving drugs starts with good science and current good manufacturing practices. Along with a brief overview of the pharmaceutical industry, topics in this seminar will include: day-to-day tasks as a chemist, skills needed to excel in the industry, instrumentation techniques used for research, method development, and quality control on FDA regulated drugs, and troubleshooting High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC).
