Indiana’s midterm election is
Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Cardinals Vote! encourages Ball State students, faculty, and staff to check their voter registration now and decide when and how they will cast their ballot.
Start with your registration.
Monday, October 5, is Indiana’s deadline to register to vote or update your registration before the election. Visit
IndianaVoters.in.gov to check your status, confirm your address, or register online.
Online registration requires a valid Indiana driver’s license or state-issued ID and must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. October 5.
Choose your voting option:
- Early in-person voting: October 6–November 2. Vote at an authorized early-voting location in the county where you are registered. Early voting ends at noon Monday, November 2. Saturday voting is available October 24 and October 31; locations and hours vary by county. Check IndianaVoters.in.gov before going.
- Absentee voting by mail: Apply now if you qualify. Indiana requires a qualifying reason, such as expecting to be outside your registered county for the entire time polls are open on Election Day, having a disability, or being age 65 or older. Review the full eligibility requirements and apply through IndianaVoters.in.gov. Your application must be received by 11:59 p.m. Thursday, October 22. Your completed ballot must be received by county election officials by 6 p.m. Tuesday, November 3. A postmark does not satisfy either deadline. Request and return your ballot early to allow for mail delivery.
- Election Day voting: Tuesday, November 3, from 6 a.m.–6 p.m. Check your voting location before leaving. Delaware County voters may use any designated vote center in Delaware County. If you are registered elsewhere, follow your county’s polling-location rules.
All voting times and deadlines are local to the county where you are registered.
Bring an acceptable photo ID when voting in person, whether early or on Election Day. Common examples include an Indiana driver’s license, Indiana state ID, or U.S. passport that meets Indiana’s requirements. Eligible voters who need an acceptable ID can obtain a free voting ID through the Indiana BMV with the required documentation.
