Starting in Fall 2024, all Ball State University students will have access to a Canvas Community on their main dashboard titled Canvas Community: The Experience Journal. Participation in the Experience Journal is not required for all students but is greatly encouraged as it allows for a space for students to create a narrative about their development and growth at Ball State University.
Using the framework of NACE (National Association of Colleges and Employers) all Ball State students will have the opportunity to?journal about where they practiced 8 key competencies both inside and outside of the classroom. These 8 competencies are the key skills employers say all students need to demonstrate to be successful in a competitive job market.
Students may complete journal entries to reflect on skills they have practiced during experiences outside of the classroom. (Student organizations, internships, jobs, etc.) Students may also participate in this journal through courses tied to Career Ready or Skills Infusion.
