The Teaching Innovation Team in the Division of Online and Strategic Learning is accepting applications for a Scholarship of Teaching & Learning (SoTL) Faculty Associate for AY2025-26. The SoTL Faculty Associate will be instrumental in developing and facilitating the Scholarship of Teaching & Learning Academy. The purpose of the SoTL Academy will be to promote excellent research-based teaching while assisting Ball State faculty in developing high-quality publications and conference presentations.
With guidance from the Director of Faculty Development, the Scholarship of Teaching & Learning (SoTL) Faculty Associate will
- Develop the SoTL Academy to be implemented during AY2025-26
- Assist in the creation of an application for the SoTL Academy
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of the SoTL Academy Canvas site
- Facilitate the SoTL Academy including:
- Selecting Academy members
- Meeting with the SoTL Academy regularly throughout the academic year
- Mentoring SoTL Academy members with the research during the program
- Coordinate presentation of the work of the SoTL Academy at internal and/or external events
- Prepare a SoTL Faculty Associate reflection/executive report at the conclusion of the academic year. Items to include:
- Overall reflections of the SoTL Academy (development, implementation, membership)
- Key findings based on participant data
- An action plan for distributing findings to the broader Ball State community through presentation or publication
- Recommendations for future iterations of the Academy and/or future SoTL programming
The Scholarship of Teaching & Learning Faculty Associate will receive $2000 for their work as a salary stipend or a deposit in their Recognized Incentive Activity account (RIA). Co-associates will be considered for this role with each receiving $1000 for their work. Funds will be distributed at the end of May 2026. The application deadline is MAY 16, 2025. Faculty Associate duties will begin June 2025.
