The Teaching Innovation Team in the Division of Online and Strategic Learning is accepting applications for an Artificial Intelligence Faculty Associate for the 2025-26 academic year. This role builds upon past years’ AI programming offered by the Teaching Innovation Team (AI in Higher Education Faculty Learning Community during AY2023-24, Teaching with AI self-paced Course during AY 2024-25) and continues the commitment to supporting faculty in understanding and using artificial intelligence in their courses.

The Artificial Intelligence Faculty Associate will

  • Work with the Director of Faculty Development to develop programming to support faculty in learning about artificial intelligence and its uses in class settings. Programming may include:
    • Workshop series
    • Book reading
    • Opportunities for guided investigation of AI tools
  • Facilitate programming throughout AY2025-26.
  • Gather data on the use of AI in courses at Ball State.
  • Prepare a Faculty Associate reflection/executive report at the conclusion of the academic year which will include:
    • Overall reflections from AY2025-26
    • Key findings based on data collection
    • An action plan for distributing findings/resources to the broader Ball State community through presentation or publication
    • Recommendations for future programming

The Artificial Intelligence Faculty Associate will receive $2000 for their work as a salary stipend or a deposit in their Recognized Incentive Activity account (RIA). Co-associates will be considered for this role with each receiving $1000 for their work. Funds will be distributed at the end of May 2026. The application deadline is MAY 7, 2025. Faculty Associate duties will begin June 2025.
