Here are some facts and stats about why this Community Diaper Drive is so important to the health and wellbeing of the babies and families across our community.
- Diapers are one of the most expensive ongoing costs for struggling families with little ones.
- Parents experiencing diaper need have missed 5.1 workdays on average in the last 30 days. That equates to $296 lost per month for parents earning the federal minimum wage.
- 1 in 2 families reported diaper need in 2023
- Babies who remain in dirty diapers for prolonged periods experience diaper rash, infections, and other health problems.
- Parents experiencing diaper need have missed 5.1 workdays on average in the last 30 days. That equates to $296 lost per month for parents earning the federal minimum wage.
- Disposable diapers cost $70 to $80 per month per baby.
- No state or federal child safety-net program allocates dollars specifically for the purchase of diapers. Diapers cannot be obtained with food stamps.
- Infants require up to 12 diapers per day, toddlers about 8.
