As a reminder, Ball State now offers individual Zoom accounts to all faculty, staff, and students. Simply go to bsu.zoom.us and sign in with your Ball State username and password. You can get more information on creating and managing your account, along with training and other resources, at bsu.edu/zoomhelp.

Zoom allows users to store recordings of meetings locally on their own device, or in the Zoom cloud. Ball State Zoom accounts currently have unlimited storage for recordings, but in order to responsibly manage our university’s Zoom cloud storage, beginning September 1, 2020, recordings stored in the Ball State Zoom cloud will be removed 180 days after they are created.

If you need to retain a recorded meeting longer than 180 days, you can record it directly to your local device to keep indefinitely. You can also upload it to another cloud storage service such as OneDrive or Box. Alternatively, you can download any recordings from your Zoom account cloud storage before the 180-day period ends and store them in the same manner.

For more information about storing recorded meetings locally or in the Zoom cloud, please refer to this Information Technology Knowledge Base article.

If you need more information about your Zoom account, or the cloud storage of recorded meetings in particular, please contact the Technology HelpDesk by submitting a request or by calling them at 765-285-1517.
