The Ball State Wind Ensemble has been selected to perform at the CBDNA National Conference hosted by the University of Georgia in Athens, GA on Saturday, February 18, 2023.
Under the direction of Thomas Caneva, the Wind Ensemble will present a preview concert of its invited performance at the College Band Directors National Association's National Convention on Tuesday, February 14th in Sursa Hall starting at 7:30.
Two newly commissioned works will be premiered at the CBDNA Conference – Cenizas by Gilda Lyons, which is a Mid-American Conference Band Directors Association commission, and Boom Goes The Dynamite by Paul Dooley, which was commissioned by former students of Dr. Caneva for his 17th year as Ball State Director of Bands.
The student musicians in the BSU Wind Ensemble will have the opportunity to perform in a state-of-the-art performance venue, the Hugh Hodgson Concert Hall on the campus of the University of Georgia. Our students will perform for some of the leading conductors and student musicians from throughout the United States.
In addition to the CBDNA performance, the band will appear in a rehearsal/clinic setting at Wheeler High School in Marietta, GA for area Cobb County School District schools on Friday, February 17, 2023.
49 students and faculty in addition to Thomas Caneva and Jeremy Harmon, Associate Director of Bands will participate in the trip.
Both concerts will be livestreamed.
