The Ball State University Police Department invites campus and community members to participate in its upcoming Citizen Police Academy, a 10-week program that provides a closer look at campus policing and public safety operations. The academy runs 6-9 p.m. each Wednesday from Jan. 28 through April 8, 2026.
Participants will hear directly from Ball State police officers and take part in hands-on activities covering a wide range of law-enforcement topics, including:
- Introduction and history of law enforcement
- The Indiana Law Enforcement Academy testing and hiring process
- CRASE (Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events) introduction and demonstration
- Introduction to investigations and evidence collection
- Emergency vehicle operations
- Use of force and simulator use
- Firearms safety and activity
