Ball State University is proud to announce a new tool for Chemical and SDS Inventory Management.

February 13, 2023

What is RSS?  Risk and Safety Solutions (RSS), is Ball State University’s chemical inventory management solution. RSS is designed to help track and manage all chemicals throughout Ball State University’s footprint. Departments or areas that contain any chemicals will use RSS for inventory, management, compliance, tracking, and safety purposes. Key areas will include classroom and research laboratories, Housing, Grounds, Facilities Planning and Management, and more. All active students and employees will be able to access RSS to view Safety Data Sheets (SDS), which provide quick and vital reference materials regarding chemical safety.

How is RSS Accessed?  Users will be able to access Risk and Safety Solutions through a link housed on my.bsu.edu in the “Additional Tools” section. RSS is configured for single sign-on (SSO), and users with active Ball State credentials will be able to access RSS.

How can students, faculty, and sites receive training on RSS?  Risk and Safety Solutions is managed by the Office of Risk Management and Environmental Health and Safety. Environmental Health and Safety will provide training for each area using RSS to track and manage their chemicals. Each area/department will have an “inventory manager” that will provide training for that area’s RSS use. RSS training materials that are available for all users can be found here:
