Are you interested in learning how to conduct research about your own teaching and your students’ learning? Then join us for a two-semester, hands-on professional development program about the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL)!

Applications are now being accepted for the 2025-2026 SoTL Academy. During the fall semester, participants will focus on conceptualizing, designing, and receiving IRB approval for a SoTL project within their discipline. During the spring semester, participants will implement their study via data collection, analysis, and the reporting of preliminary results.

The SoTL Academy will utilize a hybrid format. Some experiences will be completed asynchronously through our Canvas site, and others during in-person sessions. Asynchronous experiences will include readings and written reflections. Synchronous experiences will include the presentation of foundational knowledge, group discussions, and individualized mentoring as projects develop and progress. These activities will allow participants to:

  • Examine and discuss relevant examples of existing SoTL research.
  • Design a SoTL project and create a corresponding IRB protocol.
  • Collect, analyze, and report on their data.

In addition to the professional development, participants will also receive:

  • A SoTL Academy Certificate documenting successful completion of the program.
  • $1000 deposit in a Recognized Incentive Activity (RIA) account OR as a salary stipend upon successful completion of the program (May 2026).

Faculty members holding tenure, tenure track, and academic year contract appointments in any academic unit are encouraged to apply. Additional details including an overview of the program calendar are available HERE
