The Center for Economic and Civic Learning (CECL) at Ball State is seeking motivated undergraduate leaders to apply for the 2025–2026 Ball State Democracy Fellows Program.
Ball State Democracy Fellows are student leaders who drive Cardinals Vote!, our nationally recognized nonpartisan initiative through the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge. In 2024, Ball State was named one of the Most Engaged Campuses for Student Voting nationwide.
Fellows expand this work by connecting peers to reliable voter information, hosting dialogues on civic issues, and fostering the habits of active citizenship that last long after graduation. As a Democracy Fellow, you will:
- Engage Our Campus: Lead nonpartisan voter readiness and civic learning initiatives that matter for the 2026 primaries and general election.
- Foster Leadership: Gain skills in communication, organizing, and facilitation that employers and grad schools value.
- Connect to National Networks: Join peers across the country through ALL IN and civic learning partnerships.
Upcoming Signature Events:
- Statehouse Visit – Sept. 11, 2025. Meet BSU alumni leaders, explore policymaking up close, and learn about internships.
- Constitution Day – Sept. 17, 2025. Celebrate civic life at the Scramble Light with campus partners.
- Conference on Civic Studies & Democracy – Sept. 25–27, 2025. Network with scholars, activists, and civic leaders from across the country.
- Fellows will be part of the Cultivating Civic Character for the Common Good (C4G) initiative, a grant project that will engage 9,000 students annually. Your work connects directly to this bold campus investment.
Who Should Apply? We welcome students from all majors. Whether you’re studying political science, education, business, arts, or sciences, your perspective is valuable. What matters is a commitment to civic responsibility, respect for diverse viewpoints, and the energy to inspire others.
Respecting Your Time. We know your schedule is full. Fellowship activities are designed to fit into your life: all events are voluntary, and your time is always respected. The goal is meaningful engagement, not busywork.
