AAUW sets dates for used book sale

May 02, 2022

Dates for the next American Association of University Women Used Book Sale, co-sponsored by Indiana Public Radio, will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, through Friday, June 3, and from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 4, at the Ball State University Alumni Center.

“The used book sale is possible because of donations from area residents,” said Jean Amman, co-chairwoman of the sale. “You should not drop off books yet, but please start boxing the books you want to donate so they are ready to be dropped off when it’s time to donate.”

Donations of gently used and clean hardback and paperback fiction and nonfiction books, puzzles, audio books, CDs and DVDs may be dropped off at the Ball State Alumni Center from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. beginning Monday, May 23, and through Saturday, May 28.

Books that are most popular among used book sale buyers are romance novels, historical fiction, action and adventure, detective and mysteries, science fiction, biographies, environmental and nature, and children’s books.

The sale will not accept damaged or dirty books; textbooks; sets of encyclopedias; magazines; almanacs; dictionaries; 45 records and albums; reel-to-reel tapes; and audiocassettes or 8-track tapes.

AAUW uses the money raised through its used book sale for nontraditional student scholarships who are residents of Delaware County and usually attend Ball State or Ivy Tech. At least one $1,500 scholarship will be awarded to a student for the 2022-23 school year. Proceeds from the book sale also benefit the operations of IPR.
