Donations of new and gently used books, puzzles, DVDs and CDs (music and books) will be accepted for the American Association of University Women – Muncie Branch Used Book Sale starting at 8 a.m. Monday, May 18, at the Ball State University Alumni Center, 2800 W. Bethel Ave. All donations should be made by 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 27.
Ball State is affiliated with AAUW. Also, the AAUW Muncie Branch is affiliated with Ball State’s Office of Community Engagement.
“The community has been very supportive of our sale for more than 45 years,” said Sheryl Swingley, president of AAUW– Muncie Branch. “We look forward to seeing what residents donate this year for purchase by the public.”
Carts will be available to unload books at the front door of the Ball State Alumni Center, and donors may temporarily park at the entrance of the center.
Note that textbooks, magazines, damaged or soiled books, dictionaries, almanacs, encyclopedia sets, cassette tapes or VHS tapes are not accepted.
Hours for the sale, which is open to the public, have been expanded. When making purchases only cash or checks made payable to AAUW Muncie Branch are accepted.
New in 2026 will be a Preview Party at 4 p.m. Friday, May 22. Admission will be $5. Items may be purchased during the Preview Party.
Cash and checks only will be accepted.
Regular sale hours will run from Saturday, May 23, to Saturday, May 30. The times are:
- 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, May 23
· Closed Sunday, May 24, and Monday, May 25 (Memorial Day Weekend)
- 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, May 26-29
- 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 30
All items will be reduced on Saturday, May 31. A bag of books, CDs, DVDs and puzzles can be purchased for only $10.
During the sale, free parking will be available for attendees in the Ball State Alumni Center parking lot. Admission also is free.
Proceeds from the sale benefit the Muncie Branch of AAUW. The Muncie Branch of AAUW uses its proceeds to support its nontraditional student scholarships and the operations of the Muncie Branch. For the 2026-27 school year, the group will award three $1,500 scholarships to Delaware County residents attending Ball State University or Ivy Tech Community College.
