9/11 Patriot Day of Remembrance, Reflection, and Service

September 04, 2026
Patriot Day is a United States National Day of Observance that honors those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. In observance of Patriot Day, Ball State University will toll the carillon bells in Shafer Ball Tower.

The bells will toll from 9:50 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 11. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to gather at the Shafer Bell Tower to pause and listen to the carillon bells while reflecting on the events of that day in remembrance of those who were lost 25 years ago.

In addition to tolling of the bells, the University honors the sacrifice of those who died by joining other in service to our community. Student Voluntary Services (SVS) is partnering with Muncie Clean and Beautiful to host the 9/11 Day of Service - White River Clean Up.

Students will be helping alongside community members with the annual White River Clean-Up.
