Adventuresome undergraduates:

If you’re interested in studying in Africa, Asia, Central or Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, or the Middle East, a Boren Scholarship could give you up to $25,000 and a head start on your career!

Language study is required while abroad, and strong preference is given to students who will spend at least six months abroad (which can mean only one semester away from Ball State's campus, when summer is part of the equation).  Scholarships for summer study abroad (at least 8 weeks) are available only to students in STEM fields.  Study must begin no earlier than June 2024.

Please note the following:

  • Some fields of study are preferred.
  • Special language initiatives exist in Africa, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Turkey.
  • Recipients must agree to work for the federal government, in any agency, for at least one year.
  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens.

To learn more, attend this hour-long information session:

  • 5 p.m. on Tuesday, November 7
  • Schwartz Digital Viewing Room of Bracken Library (1st floor)

If you’re interested but can’t attend, contact Dr. Barb Stedman, Director of National and International Scholarships, at bstedman@bsu.edu.
